Saratoga Hospital Medical Group – Wound Healing is now offering hyperbaric oxygen therapy utilizing our two new hyperbaric oxygen chambers. This advanced equipment can address a number of serious conditions, including radiation injuries, non-healing wounds such as a diabetic foot ulcer, tissue-destroying infections of skin or bone, burns, crushing injuries, at-risk skin grafts or flaps, brain abscess, carbon monoxide poisoning, arterial gas embolism, decompression sickness, and many more.
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a painless, noninvasive healing method that allows the patient to breathe air containing a high concentration of oxygen. The additional oxygen stimulates the healing process. The patient simply relaxes in a hyperbaric oxygen chamber for a specified number of sessions over time, as determined by the level of tissue damage needing repair and the wound healing specialist. As nothing else is allowed in the chamber, (no books, phone, or magazines), we provide flat screen televisions mounted above the chamber to help patients pass the time. Patients are also welcome to bring a DVD from home.
